Saying “I do” example vows

i.

Celebrant:
Do you promise to respect (name) as an individual, as your partner and as your equal.
Do you promise to communicate openly and honestly and to work together to build a safe and happy future.
Do you promise to laugh with (name) when times are good and provide comfort in times of sorrow, through all your years and in all that life may bring you.

“I do”

Celebrant:
(Name) and (Name) I will now ask you to face each other and hold each other’s hands.

(Name), will you take (Name) to be your husband/wife. Will you promise to love him/her faithfully and honestly as his/her best friend? Will you honour and support his/her dreams and aspirations as if they were your own? Will you stand beside him/her as his/her partner for the rest of your life?

“I will”

Celebrant:
Catch hands now, as you face one another to make your vows.

Do you, (Name) and (Name), pledge to create a life of mutual respect, compassion, generosity, and patience towards each other as you grow together in years?

“We do”

Do you pledge to recognize each other’s individuality and celebrate each other’s uniqueness as a strength in marriage. While at the same time, will you guard one another’s weaknesses with understanding, support, and inspiration?

“We do”

And do you pledge to share the love you have for each other with all living beings? To be a couple that lets their marriage radiate into others , making their lives more beautiful because of it?

(Name), will you take (Name), to be your husband/wife. Will you be her/his loyal friend and companion? Will you treat her/him with compassion and always be truthful with her/him, and love her/him for the rest of your life.
